SEVENTEEN Falsifeye HD Mascara | £6.99 at Boots

http://www.boots.com/en/SEVENTEEN-Falsifeye-HD-Mascara_1502635/

This is the mascara that I use everyday without fail ! It gives amazing length and the plastic applicator brush separates my top and bottom lashes with ease.  It’s easy to build up the coats to create a more dramatic look (clump free!). For the price, I think this mascara is a miracle worker !

MUA Powder Blusher in the shade BON BON | £1.00 at Superdrug

http://www.superdrug.com/MUA/MUA-Blusher-Bon-Bon/p/621699#.VYmfPRNViko

This is the first blush that I bought when I first started exploring with makeup 4 years ago. And since then, it has remained an essential in my makeup bag. The rich coral colour works perfectly with my skin tone. I find that the texture of the formula is creamy and it is easy to apply when using ZOEVA’s 126 Luxe Cheek Finish Brush (any powder brush would do too though). I would recommend caution when handling this blush as it is prone to shattering if dropped, but giving the price … I think the pros outweigh the cons !

MAYBELLINE Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow in Shade 98 Creamy Biege£4.99 at Superdrug

If you like to wear eyeshadow like I do, you will understand how annoying it is when it fades and shifts throughout the day. There are plenty of eye primers out there that provide a good base for the eyeshadow to adhere to. However, after trying both high end and drugstore products, I have found that this does the job best ! The matte neutral finish provides a clear base which allows the pigmentation of the eyeshadow to remain true and vibrant. They are a fabulous dupe for MAC’s Paint Pots and cost a third of the price.

NATURAL COLLECTION Moisture Shine Lipstick in Shade Hazelnut | £1.99 at Boots

http://www.boots.com/en/Natural-Collection-Moisture-Shine-Lipstick_1525279/

I am a HUGE fan of a nude lip !

Now, when I refer to a colour as ‘nude’, I do not mean peach or pink. This is, quite frankly, because when I am nude I am not peach or pink … and I never have been (to my knowledge :P). I am brown. And I resent the fact that in the beauty world, labels are only given in relation to the majority target market of lighter skinned consumer. (There will be more on this in a future blog post).

If you have a darker skintone and don’t know where to find a nude lipstick that will suit you, I would recommend trying this shade. Its like having melted chocolate on your lips. Yumm ! (don’t eat it though). However, one major flaw is that the lipstick is not stable in the packaging and tends to move after little pressure is applied. That said, I have struggled to find such a rich warm brown lipstick anywhere else and it is a staple in my makeup bag.

*I will be recommending more nude lip products in a future blogpost.

BEAUTY UK Eyeshadow Palette No. 4 Earth Child | £3.99 on Beauty UK .com

http://www.beautyukcosmetics.com/products/eyes/eyeshadow/no4-earth-child

From the picture, it is easy to tell that this palette is well loved. The lid left the building years ago ! :S Like the MUA Blush, it is one of the first products I bought when experimenting with makeup and I have loved it ever since ! The rich warm browns, the olive greens, the creamy texture, the variety !! Although there isn’t much life left in this palette, it is still my ‘go-to’ for travelling. Its possible to create so many looks with this palette and it works very well on deeper skin tones (I should know … :P). Sadly, it isn’t being stocked in most Superdrug stores anymore but I’d say it’s worth making an online purchase.

ECOTOOLS Eye Enhancing Duo Brush Set | £6.99 at Boots and Superdrug

http://www.boots.com/en/EcoTools-Eye-Enhancing-Duo-Brush-Set_1435666/

These brushes give ‘more for less’ in so many ways ! The duo ended design makes them ideal for travelling light and the quality of the brushes is amazing for the price. As well as being 100% cruelty free, the brushes are extremely soft and have withstood countless washes with no shedding of the bristles. These brushes definitely rival Urban Decays double ended brush (which comes with the NAKED palette). I highly recommend them to starters as I have found them very easy to use !
